Look across South East Qld's suburban rooftops and you can find entire flocks of whirly birds designed to extract all that hot air out of roof spaces.
But statistics show that most people notice very little difference a whirly bird makes to their overall comfort within the household.
The main reason customers are not happy with the difference that a whirly bird makes to their overall comfort within the household is a lack of roof insulation within ceiling cavities.
It is a great idea to install heat reduction systems such as whirlybirds, but without some type of ceiling insulation, a lot of people find very little difference.
This is due to radiant heat from Qld's sweltering summers, entering the ceiling from the roof at such an overwhelming rate that the whirly birds cannot keep up.
So the heat enters the house through the ceiling cavities and then stays there because it cannot escape from the ceiling. In this case, a whirly bird will make little difference to the heat within the house.
