Start the packing of all least used items, documents, books, objects which are not used on a regular basis.
Make sure the heavy items (e.g. books) are packed in small boxes. Try to stack them flat down and not standing up.
Do not over pack the boxes. It is very important the boxes can be sealed from top, bottom and sides completely. You do not want the boxes to collapse on the day of the move…
The best way to pack is room by room. Start with the room least used, like spare bed room or study room. Try to keep all packed items from the same room together.
Remove all contents from drawers and cupboards.
Wrap safely by using bubble wrap and heavy cardboard any wooden furniture, for example wooden arm chairs, corners of buffer’s, book shelf etc. and all glass items glass table tops, glass shelves etc. in order to prevent scratches.

If moving from an apartment, make sure you book the lift for the day of the move and do not forget to present to the building manager a public liability insurance document; which you receive from the moving company. This insurance covers for any damage caused to the building while moving.
What happens on the day of the move?
On the arrival of the furniture removals make sure there is a convenient parking spot as close to the house as possible.
Try to have the furniture and boxes concentrated in the same area of the house, in order to shorten the time of loading in to the truck.
Do not forget to pack a small bag of personal items which need easy access on the day of the move, and keep it separated from the rest of the items.
